Lockdown. We might hate it or love it, but is a perfect opportunity to have a pause and look back at our habits, establish new ones and explore new mediums. I have opened for myself lino cutting. It is a very accessible and fun way to have a relaxing couple of hours planning the print and cutting it.

Planning the composition is useful to have and idea how the final print will look like. Also, it makes the process of cutting out from a lino board easier. You have to take out the parts you don't want the ink to transfer to the paper. For that, I have inverted the picture and printed on an inkjet printer at home. For transferring an illustration, use a bit of PVA glue, apply it on the board and then put a freshly printed picture on top. It will allow some ink to stick to the board and will create guides for cutting out. Another way to trace a picture on the board is to wash out the paper with a bit of water.

Ink you board and now you can do as many postcards as you wish.
Stay creative during the lockdown. #artfromhome
