Fill my will 2022
As a part of the Exploring Interaction course I have worked on a design goal: to enable (light/ moderate drinking) students experiencing pressure to drink to feel conscious and confident of their drinking decision when meeting with friends. My interaction vision is wrapping something you bought for yourself as a gift. A candle set introduces an extra step of care and creates an intimate moment of self-reflection on one's mood and thoughts about the upcoming social activity. Users solidify their decision in a scented charm symbolizing: energy, health, joy and clarity. The fragility of the created piece makes their awareness subconscious, which doesn't interfere with the feeling of autonomy.
Individual project
One of the top projects of the year for the course
awareness, fragile, social pressure, jewellery, anticipation
The first circle of design and research activities were:
-semi-structured interviews with 8 people: drinkers and non-drinkers, with the following clustering of selected quotes from interviews context mapping with 4 people with a preceding sensitising activity with a diary over 5 days, participant observations.
The second cycle:
I have challenged 9 students to make a promise to themselves to resist the pressure creating an embodied promise. Users were self-report there which was followed by a semi-structured short interview. In that cycle, I also did a test prototype of the interaction.
The cycle 3 research activities were:
-5 semi-structured Interviews, with creating a user scenario based on the findings.
–testing 2 prototypes in the context and 1 prototype with a scenario.
Choosing this complex context allowed me to learn how to conduct research and interview people on a sensitive topic as acknowledging being pressured. The project was selected as one of the top projects of a year among around 100 students.
More details about the process of the project can be found here: link
I have collected data from 26 participants in total.
